the rumor mill is churning at full force on the notion that Nick Colobro is on a very short list for the job in Johnson City. who else is ready to be a Hilltopper?

I'm surely not a big enough Nick fan to be a Hilltopper, sorry.

it would probably be a great move for coach, especially financially. i'd say he's got enough years in to retire from virginia. he could retire and draw his pension, go to tennessee and coach, and get paid again. plus he's accomplished about all that a man can accomplish at gate city, and along with the fact that it may be a few years before gate city can compete for a state championship, i'd say it would be a great move for him.

I would wish Coach Colobro luck, but it's not the Gate City Colobros but the Gate City Blue Devils where I graduated. No way I could give up that tradition and pride.

The biggest thing here is that Tennessee pays your insurance after you retire as well and he could work there 5 years get retirement in Tennessee and have insurance.

Exactly. It would be the same situation as Coach Richards did.

Re: Colobro to Science Hill?

I think it would be a great move for coach Colobro. But who says Nick Colobro will no longer be the coach at GC? I can't imagine a better replacement than Nick Jr. He was born for the job.
When coach had athletes - years like 97 and 03 come to mind - he did pretty good. He should have all the athletes he can handle in Johnson City. I wouldn't expect the T to travel with coach. The T will remain in GC, however, until we get the horses to run a better system. Say what you will about play calling, but at the end of the day you have to play the cards you're dealt.

Re: Colobro to Science Hill?

Coach Nick is a class act and if this is true, SWVA will lose a good coach. Did the Gate City fans give him a lot of grief over this past year? If so that may have influenced his decision. Any way best wishes to Coach Nick.
